Exhibition venue: The Sainsbury Centre is the location of the Doris Lessing 100 exhibition.
Event venue: The Julian Study Centre Lecture Theatre is the location of the 'Doris Lessing 100: Women Writers in Conversation Event'. It's just off Chancellor's Drive on UEA's campus.
**There is a useful campus map in PDF here which clearly shows the location of the Julian Study Centre (pink) and Sainsbury Centre. It also shows the West Car Park (P2 and P3) located behind the venue. Read on for written instructions.**
Arriving by Car
FREE parking is available. If you are driving to campus do not use the main car park. Instead make your way to the West Car Park. You can find this by driving down Chancellor's drive. The barriers will be raised - just drive in.
Where is Chancellor's drive?
Driving onto campus from Earlham Road? Take a right after the sportspark and head straight down the hill.
Driving onto campus from Bluebell Road? Ignore the main car park and drive on past the main bus stops until you reach the mini roundabout. Take a left/go straight on (instead of a right to the Sportspark) and head down the hill.
Look to your right for the West Car Park barriers which will be lifted. Drive straight in and turn left. Park as far away from the entrance to the car park as you can and your walk will be shorter.
Arriving by Bus
The number 25 bus will take you to a stop outside the Julian Study Centre. This saves you a 5-8 minute walk from the main bus stop.
Arriving by Taxi
If your cab driver doesn't know the Julian Study Centre, ask for Norwich Medical School. It is next door. Or tell them it's on the road to the Sainsbury Centre but on the right hand side.
Where is the Julian Study Centre exactly?
The Julian Study Centre is situated between Norwich Medical School and the new science building (about to be named!). The building has a bright pink facade.
The entrance is very much tucked away if you are approaching on foot from the top Chancellor's Drive. Look our for our student ambassadors in bright blue hoodies or locate the Medical School and then take the next right.
If you park in the West Car Park, you can approach the Julian Study Centre building from the car park. You don't need to walk all the way back to the car park entrance. Walk to the very end of the car park - ie in the opposite direction to the car park entrance and then turn left when you see the road.
What if I'm coming from the Sainsbury Centre?
If you are attending the exhibition first you could try parking in the Sainsbury Centre visitors car park or park in the West Car park and walk on to the Sainsbury Centre from there. It just takes a few minutes. Opposite the Julian Study Centre is a red jagged line painted onto the path that runs between the two buildings. When you leave the exhibition, take the exit nearest to the Modern Life Cafe. Cross the road and follow the red jagged line or look out for one of our student ambassadors in a blue hoodie.
