"One of the major fiction writers of the second half of the 20th century and one of the most vividly representative literary figures of our times"

- Lorna Sage on Lessing in The Guardian, 2013

The University of East Anglia (UEA) enjoyed a long association with Lessing, where she held the title of Distinguished Fellow of Literature, and the University's British Archive for Contemporary Writing (BACW) proudly hosts her vast archive of correspondence, diaries and personal papers.

To mark this important milestone, UEA's School of Literature, Drama and Creative Writing, in partnership with the BACW hosted a range of events and a major exhibition at the Sainsbury Centre.

In Sep 12-14 2019, we held a major international conference.  View a full conference programme here. View our flyer here. [PDF]
